Hermitage Plantation

On the grounds of the Estill Correctional Institution, Federal Bureau of Prisons, just off S.C. Sec. Rd. 25-35, about 1.5 mi. S of its intersection with S.C. Sec. Rd. 25-208

Front inscription

This plantation was owned by large land owner Geo. Rhodes (1802-1881) who signed Ordinance of Secession in 1860. Tradition holds house was burned in 1865 during Civil War.
